YOUR CAPSULE WARDROBE: A/W

If anything, one thing that I have noticed in my 30's is that I love to have a closet full of items that not only fit me really well, but that I look forward to wearing repeatedly every year. Living in New England, I am able to switch up my wardrobe quite often with different colors, textures, and layers depending on the season. This allows me to have a closet of pieces for each season, constantly changing what I am wearing, and ultimately not really feeling bored of my wardrobe. Don't get me wrong, warm weather and minimal wear is great as well, but there is something about those fall and winter fashion pieces that really excite me to get dressed and feel like I am changing things up.

A curated closet is very personal, and should be tweaked based on what make makes you feel comfortable. This is what I strive to have in my closet (I still need some pieces), classic pieces that you can easily reach for, and also mix and match. The most important thing about your closet is that the items fit you correctly - unless you want them to be oversized, but even then, your oversized jeans should still fit your butt and waist. Consider trying a new brand or stick to one you know that fits you well.

Next, you want to think if these items are pieces that you will keep for years. Instead of wasting money on fast fashion, invest your money in classic, quality items you will wear over and over. There are several designers who dedicate certain items in their collection that they consider classics, like Anine Bing. She has a spot on her site called 'CLASSICS' that has clothing and accessories that remain on her site year after year. I like this because you are not only investing in items that are always in-style, but are well-made, too.

I started with winter because it's the season that requires that most layers. You will notice some items being repeated in future collages because you can wear a lot of these things year-round. Also, I know it's not as cold in some parts of the U.S. during winter, so just omit the coats option, or do a lighter coat like a leather jacket or trench coat, which I will be adding. Hope this inspires you to add pieces that you'd want to invest in to your closet, and avoid fast fashion trends as much as possible.

P.S. - basic long + short sleeve shirts in white, black, and grey are always a good idea :)
